Niger EITI published last month its latest report, disclosing government revenue from the mining and petroleum industries in 2011. The report was launched amidst the ongoing high-profile discussions on extractives in Niger, to which the EITI Report provides some independently confirmed facts and figures.
The report shows that the extractive sector in 2011 accounted for 70.8% of exports, against 5.8% of GDP. Niger EITI has also begun to disclose revenues from artisanal mining, which constituted 0.4% of total.
