What is the conference about?

The Paris Conference will focus on two key issues. It will seek to establish that the EITI matters by showing that revenue transparency has different impacts in the 31 EITI implementing countires depending on context and local circumstances. The conference will be an opportunity for all stakeholders to show how and why the EITI matters to them. The Paris conference will also aim to demonstrate that the EITI will matter more. We will discuss why and how revenue transparency will continue to be important in the future in light of a wide range of challenges and policy issues related both to natural resource governance and the methodology of the EITI.

Who can attend the conference?

All EITI stakeholders are welcome to attend the conference.

Who will be at the conference?

Government representatives from EITI implementing countries and supporting countries, including heads of state and ministers; company CEOs and representatives as well as institutional investors and other financial institutions; civil society leaders and international organisations; academia and journalists. How can I register for the conference?

To register, simply read the registration details and guidelines, and fill in the online form available on the registration page.

 Do I have to register in advance or can I register on-site?

All attendees must register in advance. Registration will be open until 15 February 2011.  

Can I register for the conference by telephone?

All registrations should be done online. 

I can only attend one day or some of the sessions. Can I still register?

Yes, you can still register. In the online registration form, please only sign up for the sessions that take place during the day you will be attending.

I am an attendee coming from overseas, how do I register for the conference while awaiting my visa status to travel?

We strongly encourage that you apply for a visa before you register. The EITI does not issue personal invitation letters that would contain specific language needed for visa application purposes. Please take a look at the visa page for more information.

What are the registration fees?

Registration is free of charge. However, the registrant is responsible for all costs associated with travels, lodging and meals as well as any other expenses incurred during the conference.

How do I know if my registration submitted online was received?

You will receive a confirmation email shortly after you submit the form with the details of your registration.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you have registered and for some reason cannot attend, you are requested to cancel your registration online. You can access your registration any time by using your login name and password. Please note that it is also possible to transfer your registration to another delegate. For more information, please see the registration page

What if I am having problems with the online registration process?

If you are experiencing problems with registering online and you cannot find an answer to your question in the registration guidelines, please contact paris2011 [at] eiti [dot] org.

Do I have to make my own hotel reservation?

Yes. Please look at the accommodation page for recommended hotels located close to the conference venue.

How do I get a visa to travel to France?

Should you have questions regarding visas for France please consult the Visa and Travel Document page of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs website, available here.

Will the EITI provide funding for travel and accommodation?

No, the EITI is not in position to cover travel and accommodation expenses for participants.

How much does it cost to attend the conference?

Attending the conference is free of charge. However, the registrant is responsible for all costs associated with travels, lodging, meals and any other costs incurred during the conference.

Will there be internet access at the conference?

Yes, the conference centre has wifi access.

Will the information/conference materials provided at the conference be posted on the website?

The conference programme, information about speakers and other relevant material will be available on the website. Any conference updates and news will also be announced online. Soft copies of publications that will be launched at the Conference will be made available online as well as presentations held during the conference and information about other conference highlights.

I have a session idea for the conference or a speaker to recommend—how can I tell you about it?

We are grateful for any input from EITI stakeholders. If you have a session idea, please write to paris2011 [at] eiti [dot] org

 Can I get a list of who's attending the conference?

Speakers at the Paris Conference will be announced here. A final participant list will be available upon request during and after the conference.

 
How do I subscribe to the conference mailing list?  

We recommend that you suscribe to the EITI newsletter to stay up to date on the latest conference news. To suscribe simply enter your email address in the subscribe now box on the front page.

Do you accommodate special needs?

Yes. The Conference venue has total accessibility, and we do whatever is needed to make attending the Conference as convenient as possible for all attendees. If you have a special need, please include this in your online registration.
