Evaluation of the EITI, 2011

Progress Report 2009-2011

EITI has evolved much between the Doha Conference in 2009 and the Paris Conferene in 2011. Around 50 countries are now engaged in the efforts to improve transparency of revenues from the extractives sector. The EITI Progress Report 2009-2011 brings together highlights from the 33 countries that were implementing the EITI when the report was launched. The report is available in English and French. Validation Fact Sheet

EITI Validation is EITI's quality assurance mechanism that all implementing countries must undertake in order to become EITI Compliant. EITI policy and methodology are guided by the EITI Principles and EITI Criteria, and are outlined in detail in the EITI Source Book and EITI Rules. Heads in the sand

The report "Heads in the sand: Governments ignore the oil supply crunch and threaten the climate" by Global Witness argues that governments have failed to recognise the oil supply crunch.
