The Board agreed to place Madagascar under enhanced scrutiny for a period of one year.
Board decision
Following the military takeover in Madagascar, the Board agreed to place Madagascar under enhanced scrutiny for a period of one year, ending on 20 November 2026.
The Board tasked the EITI International Secretariat with closely monitoring Madagascar’s commitment to, and progress in, adhering to the EITI Principles and Requirements. Should it become manifestly clear that significant aspects of the EITI Principles and Requirements are not being upheld during this period, the Board will consider suspending Madagascar in accordance with Article 8.2 of Section 1 of Part 2 of the 2023 EITI Standard.
