Jürgen Reitmaier

Jürgen has worked for more than thirty years for the International Monetary Fund, initially in the European Department, later in the African Department, where he led at different times the country teams for Côte d’Ivoire, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Guinea, Mozambique, and Tanzania, and served as Senior Resident Representative in Kenya. He was also involved in technical assistance and reports on the observance of standards and codes. Since his retirement from the IMF and move to Berlin in 2006, Jürgen has done consulting work for German President Horst Köhler’s Partnership with Africa and the German Development Bank KfW and assisted EITI Chairman Peter Eigen in some of his activities. Jürgen is a German citizen and holds a Diplomvolkswirt degree from Bonn University and an MLitt in economics from the University of Oxford.
