Victor Hart

Chair of EITI Trinidad and Tobago

Victor Hart is a national of Trinidad and Tobago. He is a retired construction professional: UK trained Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Project Manger. He has been a civil society activist since retirement in 1994.

Currently a Director of EITI International Board and Chair of Cabinet-appointed Trinidad and Tobago Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative Multi-Stakeholder Group Steering Committee bringing transparency and accountability to oil, gas and mining sectors.

Recently a member of Cabinet-appointed Oversight Committee for Public Procurement to oversee the implementation of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act 2015.

Previously Chair of Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute, local Chapter of Transparency International, the global coalition that leads the fight against corruption; Commissioner on the Commission of Enquiry into the Piarco Airport Development Project that led to corruption charges against politicians and businessmen locally and in USA.

Recipient of a Trinidad and Tobago National Award, The Humming Bird Medal Silver, for Community Service in recognition of his work in fighting corruption and in bringing greater transparency and accountability to the country's energy sector.

Recipient of Lifetime Awards from the Trinidad and Tobago Contractors Association for his contribution to the construction sector and from the Institute of Surveyors for his contribution to the surveying profession.
