EITI makes progress with Azerbaijan

EVENT: Azerbaijan was validated as the first Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) compliant country at the organisation's fourth conference held this week in Doha.

SIGNIFICANCE: The validation of Azerbaijan as the first EITI compliant country marks the initiative's transition to a new stage of operation since its launch in 2003.
