Hon. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh

Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Mauritania

Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh holds a degree in economics from the Faculty of Law and Economics of Tunis, a postgraduate degree (DEA) in Development Economics from the University of Paris-I Panthéon-Sorbonne (France) and an international diploma in Public Administration from the ENA de Paris. 

Mr. Mohammed Saleh started his professional career in 1985 in the ministry of Economy and Finance and held afterwards several Senior Positions in the Administration and the Government of Mauritania.  

Mr. Mohamed Saleh joined in 2003 the FAO of the UN where he held several senior positions, including his last position as Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa. 

Mr. Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh joined the Government of Mauritania in August 2020 as Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy. 

Mr. Mohamed Saleh has been promoting the Government of Mauritania vision for an integrated development of its gas, its renewable resources and its minerals to establish the country as a low carbon and green minerals hub.  

Mr. Mohamed Saleh is fluent in English, French and Arabic (mother tongue).
