Sumitomo Metal Mining (SMM) is a global company specialising in mining, smelting, refining and the manufacture of advanced materials. Sumitomo Metal Mining has its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan and is listed on the Tokyo stock exchange.

Sumitomo Metal Mining has agreed with the intent of and expressed support for the Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative, based on the SMM Group Responsible Mineral Sourcing Policy. It respects the guidance established by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) regarding mineral sourcing, exercises appropriate influence over suppliers and strives to ensure transparency in the supply chain of raw materials.

Engagement with the EITI

Sumitomo Metal Mining is a member of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). ICMM makes a contribution to the EITI on behalf of all of its members. The SMM Group publishes reports in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines mandated for ICMM member companies.
