ERAMET
Statement of Support
Engagement with the EITI
Eramet has operations in four EITI implementing countries: Senegal, Norway, Indonesia and Argentina. In Senegal, the company Grande Côte Operations (GCO) contributed to the preparation of the EITI country report. In 2018, Senegal was recognized as the first African country and the fourth country in the world to achieve satisfactory progress in implementing the EITI standard.
As a supporting company of the EITI, Eramet is also committed to transparency in financial flows between businesses and host countries and regularly reports to its stakeholders.
Strengthening transparency
In addition to reporting by Eramet’s subsidiaries at the national level, in their annual report, Eramet discloses information regarding their payments to governments on a country-by-country basis. Eramet's payments to government reports are available on Eramet’s website.
With regards to the publication of mining contracts, pursuant to the EITI Standard, Eramet believes it is essential that the decision to publish is initiated and implemented by the countries, which are signatory parties to the contracts. As soon as a state wishes to make these contracts public and legal, commercial and confidentiality obstacles are removed, Eramet has expressed that it has no objection to the principle of publishing these contracts.
