EITI at Africa Oil Week
Now entering its 27th year, the 2021 Africa Oil Week and Future Energy Series Africa brought together governments, national and international oil companies, independents, investors and service providers around the theme "Succeeding in a Changed Market".
The EITI moderated several panels and events throughout the week:
Fireside: Designing an Economic Blueprint for Harmonisation of Energy Development Across Africa Mon, 8 Nov 10:00 - 10:30 GMT+4 | Moderated by Bady Baldé, EITI Deputy Executive and Africa Director This session convened representatives from the African Union and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to discuss economic planning for energy development across Africa. |
Panel: Energy Transition Policies for a Changing Landscape: Stimulating National Economic Growth and Investment Tue, 9 Nov 11:00 - 12:00 GMT+4 | Moderated by Joanne Jones, EITI Communications Director This panel discussed the renewed pressure put on fossil fuel-dependent African governments to improve their fiscal and regulatory terms and explore new industries or policies to diversify their economies. |
EITI Africa Energy Dialogue: Unlocking EITI data to prepare for an evolving energy landscape Tue, 9 Nov 17:30 - 20:30 GMT+4 | Moderated by Bady Baldé, EITI Deputy Executive and Africa Director This closed-door session convened ministerial representatives from EITI implementing countries to discuss opportunities for using EITI disclosures to inform national planning and debate around the energy transition. |
