Japan

At the EITI Global Conference held in Paris in 2019, the Minister of the Embassy of Japan in France made a speech and expressed the country's support to the activities of the EITI.

Statement of support

Engagement with the EITI 

Japan has been an EITI supporting country since 2009. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has provided support to the EITI process by contributing to the EITI Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) managed by the World Bank, as well as by providing direct support to an EITI implementing country.

Since 2018, Japan has collaborated with the EITI to enhance transparency in the extractive sector of Papua New Guinea, through Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Between 2011 and 2015, Japan contributed approximately US$600,000 to the EITI Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
