Pacific Rubiales supports the EITI

The EITI is pleased to welcome Pacific Rubiales Energy as the latest EITI Supporting Company. Pacific Rubiales is a Canadian-based company and producer of natural gas and heavy crude oil. It is actively involved in EITI implementation processes in Guatemala and Peru, and is also operating in Colombia.

Mr José Francisco Arata, President and Director for Pacific Rubiales said in a letter to the EITI: “I am pleased to announce that Pacific will support the EITI aims to strengthen governance by improving transparency and accountability in the extractive industry.”

Further, Mr Arata says "it should be noted that we would be the first company on the BVC [the main stock exchange in Colombia] to support the EITI and will be committed to having a leading role in the implementation of EITI in Colombia by collaborating with governments, companies, civil society groups, investors and international organizations. In Canada, Peru and Guatemala; current EITI implementing countries, PRE will actively support national EITI processes. We believe that this ongoing pledge to transparency and accountability will contribute to the sustainable development in these nations and work to counter poverty, conflict and corruption."
