Call for tender: PWYP seeks an EITI Programme Officer

Essential duties and Responsibilities

  • Support civil society board members to strategise their engagement and champion collective decision-making;
  • Assist civil society board members to coordinate, document and amplify civil society perspectives in International Board decision-making;
  • Assist civil society board members to organise consultations prior to Board meetings with their constituency;
  • Work with civil society board members to report back to national / regional CSOs on Board outcomes;
  • Work with civil society board members to ensure well-prepared and active participation in the various board committees;
  • Work with Director and other staff to develop strategies, priorities, and guidelines;
  • Supporting and advancing the EITI to ensure it is and remains a robust global standard;
  • Monitor country progress and provide critical analysis of country validation processes and outcomes to influence Board decisions on country compliance and implementation;
  • Advocate for innovations in the mandate and scope of the EITI;
  • Provide assistance in the development, management and dissemination of EITI-focused projects;
  • Maintaining internal and external communications around EITI through blogs, publications and articles;  
  • Liaise between PWYP International Secretariat, PWYP national coalitions and international actors;
  • Liaise with capacity/technical providers to design training materials;
  • Assist with disseminating civil society’s work using EITI reports;
  • Manage financial and budget reports to track program spending;
  • Assist in the planning and developing of annual budget;
  • Travel will be required;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:  Bachelor's degree and several years’ relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Solid knowledge of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and familiarity with other international transparency and multi-stakeholder initiatives, or other initiatives aimed at strengthening civil society in the resource governance sector.

Skills Required:

  • Effectively manage to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot and follow projects through to completion, with strict deadlines and without loss of attention to detail, budget and reporting;
  • Understanding of basic dynamics of extractive industries and public finance, as well as issues of transparency and governance;
  • Experience working in developing countries and with training/capacity-building programs is desirable;
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with internet research and database management;
  • Exercise good listening and communication skills with sensitivity to cultural communication differences;
  • Effectively work as a team member and independently, with a high-level of self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals;
  • Show discretion and ability to handle confidential issues;
  • Knowledge of key organizations and networks active in the field;
  • Pleasant, diplomatic manner and disposition in interacting with colleagues and the general public.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and verbal) and working knowledge of French are essential for this position. Knowledge of other languages (Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Arabic others) is a strong plus. 

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 12 months fixed term contract with the possibility of extension

Working hours: full time position, 40 hours per week
