Introducing more transparency of the commodity trade
Stakeholders from the commodity trade, government and civil society met today.
On the eve of the meeting of the EITI Board, a group of experts and stakeholders from the commodity trade, government and civil society, met to discuss how to improve governance and transparency of the commodity trade. A key question was how the EITI platform could be helpful for improving disclosure and building dialogue in the oil trading sector.
Chair of the EITI, Clare Short said at the meeting:
“It's hard to get perfection in life, but with this spirit of good will, progress is possible. This is a significant step in a long journey. There is something here for everyone."
