Premiers barils de pétrole au Niger : l’État s’engage à publier toutes les recettes

On 28 November, Niger became an oil producer with the opening of a refinery in Zinder. The refinery has the capacity to pump 20,000 barrels a day and will produce liquefied petroleum gas, petrol and gas-oil.

EITI Niger is already working to ensure that oil revenues are disclosed in EITI reports from 2012 onwards. “The most important thing is that our oil wealth benefits Nigeriens, especially the majority in the rural areas who need education, health care, and roads", Niger President Mahamadou Issoufou said at the inauguration ceremony.

Niger was accepted by the international EITI Board as EITI Compliant on 1 March 2011.
