
Khamal Clayton
Senior Policy Officer
Khamal Clayton is a Senior Policy Officer and supports the EITI's work on commodity trading, state-owned enterprises and domestic resource mobilisation.
Before joining the EITI, Khamal spent more than five years working on fiscal challenges confronting developing economies, including those dependent on extractive industries. Khamal has contributed to several missions focused on capacity development and technical assistance across several countries in the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Khamal’s experience spans several multilateral development entities including the Inter-American Development Bank, International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Khamal has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics-Mathematics with a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Columbia University, and a Master’s degree in International Economics and International Relations with a focus on International Development from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). In his spare time, Khamal enjoys reading, visiting museums and art galleries, and dancing salsa and bachata.
