Santiago J. Dondo

Nationality: Argentinian

Santiago was a Regional Director for the Latin America and Caribbean region, which involved supporting the implementation of the EITI in Guatemala, Honduras, Peru and the Dominican Republic, as well as mobilising political, financial and technical support for the EITI's work in the region.

Before joining the EITI, Santiago worked for the government of Argentina as Undersecretary of Mining Policy under the administration of Mauricio Macri. Previously, he worked as a consultant for the Mining Committee of the National Congress of Argentina, and as coordinator for the mining area in Pensar Foundation, an Argentinian think tank. In the private sector, he acted as an external legal counsel for top-tier firms in Argentina and the United States, assisting multinational extractive companies.

Santiago holds an LL.M. with a specialisation in Mining Policies from the University of Queensland, Australia, and was awarded a scholarship by the Australian government. He was also appointed as industry fellow for the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining of the Sustainable Minerals Institute, University of Queensland. He is based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
