How the Board takes decisions

EITI Board decisions are generally taken at Board meetings. Article 15.5 of the Articles of Association charges the EITI Secretariat with keeping and publishing an updated Minute Book of decisions made at Board meetings. Therefore, decisions of the EITI Board are made public through the publication of EITI Board meeting minutes.

The EITI Board can also take decisions outside of Board meetings (Article 14.7). This generally happens through Board circulars. Board circulars and Board papers are considered internal working papers under the EITI’s Openness Policy and are consequently not published on the EITI website. As the EITI Board Manual explains, decisions taken by Board circular are announced at the next Board meetings and recorded in the minutes.

Approved minutes and Board circulars, the sources of Board decisions, take precedence over any information made available in the register.

The register holds decisions since the Global Conference in Lima (February 2016). Decisions made before are publicly available through the Board meeting agenda and the meeting minutes.
