Daniel Kaufmann
President Emeritus, Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI)
Daniel Kaufmann is the president emeritus of the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), having previously served as President and CEO. He is a Senior Fellow at Results for Development and at Brookings, and is a visiting professor in the faculty of economics of the University of the Philippines. In the past he held senior positions in the World Bank, including director at the World Bank Institute as well as of the Ukraine country office. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University and has served in governance and advisory boards on governance, anti-corruption and natural resources, as well as in high-level expert commissions such as at the OECD and the IDB. He has advised leaders of states and of international organizations. His work has been frequently cited in the media, and he has published extensively in research and policy journals on governance, development and natural resources. With his teams, he has developed global indicators on governance and designed diagnostic tools and survey methodologies for good governance and anti-corruption programs. He holds degrees in economics and statistics from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and from Harvard University.
