About African Rainbow Minerals

African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) is a mining company based in South Africa. ARM has interests in a wide range of mines, including platinum and platinum group metals (PGMs), iron, coal, copper, and gold.

The only EITI country in which ARM Ltd operates, is Zambia through its Lubambe Copper Mine, which has not been approached to participate in the multi-stakeholder group.

Engagement with the EITI

No data has been requested to date.  Note that the Lubambe Mine (a Joint Venture between ARM and Vale) is in production ramp-up phase.

Financial contribution to international management of the EITI

African Rainbow Minerals Ltd. is a member of the ICMM and therefore endorses the ICMM position statements regarding the Transparency of Mineral Revenues and the principles of related work done on mineral endowment projects.  

Other transparency activities

African Rainbow Minerals Ltd is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and in terms of listings requirements, complies with the King III Code on Governance (“King III”).  In terms of King III requirements, the Company has to disclose payments to governments.  This is done in the Governance Section of the Integrated Annual Report.

As a member of the ICMM, ARM also subscribes to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) – a global standard that promotes revenue transparency and the management of revenues from natural resources. The aim of the EITI is to strengthen governance which prevents the exploitation of natural resources by improving transparency and accountability in the extractives sector.
