About Maersk Oil

Maersk Oil is an international oil and gas company with operated production of about 625,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. We produce oil and gas in Denmark, the UK, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Brazil and Algeria. Exploration activities are ongoing in Angola, Norway, the US Gulf of Mexico, Greenland and in the producing countries.

Engagement with the EITI

Maersk Oil submits reports to the appropriate authorities in EITI implementing countries Norway and Kazakhstan and follows the work of the EITI Board closely.

In Norway, Maersk Oil reports all transactions towards the Norwegian authorities such as income tax, VAT and CO2 tax. The information is reconciled by third party Deloitte'.

In Kazakhstan, Maersk Oil reports taxes and other payments to the government, including corporate and personal income tax as well as the government share of the production from the Production Sharing Agreement and payment for environmental emissions.

Financial contribution to international management of the EITI*

Maersk Oil contributed US $60,000 in 2015.

Maersk Oil has supported the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) since 2011. The EITI is a globally developed standard that promotes transparency and accountability of natural resource management at the national level through public reporting of company payments and government revenues. Maersk Oil supports the EITI as it contributes towards the sustainable development of countries’ economies and encourages open dialogue between governments, citizens and companies.
