PARIS, 2 March 2011 – The Central African Republic, The Kyrgyz Republic, Niger, Nigeria, Norway, and Yemen have achieved Compliance with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), the global standard for improved transparency in the oil, gas and mining sectors.
Following the UK Government’s invitation for consultation on its open data initiative data.gov.uk, the EITI International Secretariat has submitted a short paper urging the UK Government to follow the example of Norway, the United States and 33 other countries, by committing to implement the EITI standard.
BAGHDAD, 10 JANUARY 2010. Noori Al-Maliki, Prime Minister of Iraq today announced Iraq’s plans to implement the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) at the Iraqi EITI launch conference in Baghdad. Iraq plans to become an EITI Candidate country in February.
OSLO, 21 JANUARY 2010. Today the Norwegian government published all payments made by oil companies to the government for 2008. In this move to bolster Norwegian transparency standards, the payment data was made available in its first EITI Report.
