The Kyiv International Energy Club is holding a conference to debate about the status and prospects of implementation of EITI in Ukraine. The International Secretariat will be present at the conference.
Geneva 20-24 October 2014: The International Secretariat will attend the 10th annual meeting of the Intergovernmental Forum on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development (IGF). As part of this meeting, (IGF) is hosting a two day workshop on artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM).
The 5th EITI Global Conference will feature four plenary sessions and numerous executive sessions, as well as workshops, all evolving around the headline ‘transparency counts’. There will also be special events such as the EITI Chair’s awards and the EITI National Exhibition. The conference events and sessions will reflect the following two main themes:
This international conference will discuss the political and legal context of extractive industry contracts; licensing and negotiation; confidentiality and transparency of contracts; citizen and parliamentary participation in negotiation; approval and monitoring of contracts; the financial "take" of the government contracts; and contract negotiation and renegotiation experiences.
The event will feature two separate panel discussions described below.
