EITI Chair, Clare Short welcomed Australia’s invitation to host the biennial EITI Global Conference.
The 5th EITI Global Conference will feature four plenary sessions and numerous executive sessions, as well as workshops, all evolving around the headline ‘transparency counts’. There will also be special events such as the EITI Chair’s awards and the EITI National Exhibition. The conference events and sessions will reflect the following two main themes:
The Global Conference is the flagship event in natural resource governance. Governing oil, gas and minerals is no easy task for any country. Improving transparency and accountability to strengthen systems and inform public debate is an essential first step for all countries.
The 5th EITI Global Conference is around the corner. Don’t miss your chance to be there. The deadline for registrations is 15 February 2011. We urge all stakeholders wishing to attend the conference to register their participation online at www.eitiparis.org as soon as possible.
This conference, organised in partnership with the World Bank's Governance Partnership Facility (GPF) will explore the priorities and challenges for governance in development, as well as sharing innovative examples of governance in country programmes and thematic sectors.
