Supporting Company through membership of ICMM
We engage in and support the work being done to fight corruption by supporting international frameworks such as the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). We believe that being transparent in our payments to governments can help communities to understand the economic benefits generated by mining activity and how this is distributed to governments for local, regional, and national economic and social development.

Engagement with the EITI

Teck is an active supporter of the EITI both directly and through its membership with the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM). Peru is the only EITI implementing country where Teck currently has operations and the company has publicly disclosed its payments in accordance with the EITI Standard. Teck also disclosed the data required for the Antamina mine in Peru.

The company voluntarily provides information on its tax payments on a country-by-country basis in its disclosure portal which offers convenient access to information on its sustainability performance, payments to the government, policies and other topics of public interest.

Strengthening transparency

In addition to its sustainability report, the company reports on its payments to governments under the Canadian Extractive Sector Transparency Measures (ESTMA) Act, available on its public filings archive webpage.

Teck's annual Economic Contribution Report provides additional detailed information on the company economic contribution including taxes paid, wages and benefits, suppliers spend and community investment, and compliments its report under ESTMA. Teck's economic contribution reports are available here.
