Engagement with the EITI
Equinor was a member of the international EITI Board from 2009-2023. The company has repeatedly contributed with its expertise in working groups on specific topics mandated by the EITI. Over the years, Equinor has also been an active member of several national multi-stakeholder groups (MSGs), including in Norway and Indonesia.
Beyond its annual financial contribution, Equinor has provided ad-hoc support to the EITI global conference and regional EITI workshops. It has also hosted EITI events in Oslo and London.
Strengthening transparency
Equinor was among the first major oil and gas companies that voluntarily disclosed payments to governments. As required by Norwegian legislation, Equinor discloses payments to governments pertaining to its extractive activities per project in a separate report. The report also contains information on investments, revenues, purchases of goods and services, and production volumes per country, in addition to a full list of subsidiaries and information about inter-company interest expenses.
