Increasing commodity trading transparency in Albania

EITI commodity trading meeting

The EITI's commodity trading working group meets in London to discuss general updates and developments on reporting practices in EITI countries. Reporting on commodity trading will be piloted in some EITI countries and the meeting will discuss how these efforts can best be supported.

What is the impact of the EITI in Francophone Africa?

The EITI week in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, opens with a big bang, celebrities and strong messages.

The room was so crowded we had to organise extra chairs. Aside from the 60 participants from 14 Francophone African countries, the press and members of ministries and international institutions had made their way to the Novotel Hotel in central Abijdan. 

More transparency in commodity trading: Objectives, methodologies, standards

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) are organising a meeting on commodity trading and transparency on 20 October 2015 (13:00-14:00), which will take place on the margins of the 30th EITI Board meeting. Extraction of oil, gas and minerals have far-reaching effects on resource-rich countries. It can spur economic growth and social development, or, when poorly managed, lead to corruption and conflict.
