BERLIN, 16 APRIL 2010. The Board of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, the international standard for improved transparency in countries’ natural resource sector, met in Berlin 15-16 April. The Board discussed the request of 17 of the 32 countries currently implementing the EITI to extend their deadline for completing EITI Validation.
Guinea has voluntarily suspended its EITI Candidate status in the EITI starting from 19 December 2009, following the EITI Board's approval. The Government of Guinea and the EITI Guinea Steering Committee in Guinea had unanimously made this request in view of the difficult political situation in the country.
BAKU, 15 OCTOBER 2009 The Board of the EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) held its 10th meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan on 14-15 October 2009.
EITI will hold its 10th Board meeting in Baku 14-15 October 2009. The Government of Azerbaijan, the first country to complete EITI validation, will host the meeting.
