Michael Clements
Director for International Programmes, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre
Michael is the Director for International Programmes at the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She supports the work of six thematic teams - Natural Resources and a Just Transition, Labour Rights in Supply Chains, and Accountable Technologies, as well as Gender and Racial Justice, Civic Freedoms and Human Rights Defenders, and Corporate Legal Accountability. From 2015 -2021, Michael worked for Lawyers for Human Rights, a South African public interest organisation, where she served as Acting Director and Head of Programmes, and represented communities in advancing their rights in legal matters involving the accountability of the extractive sector. Previously, she worked at a New York-based law firm, specialising in international arbitration and litigation, and began her career in investor relations at a global gold mining company.
