Mr José Fernandez ROSA CARDOSO
José Cardoso was appointed as EITI National Coordinator of Sao Tome and Principe in 2011 and has since been leading the country's application for Initiative.
Former civil servant, he worked in the Department of Commerce where he was involved in the creation of Lusophone Competition Network, trade negotiations and industrial property. He has assisted two Ministers of Trade, Industry and Tourism for trade sector.
He has also professionally dedicated to image and communication projects for both the public and private sectors.
José was liasion officer of Saybolt International BV, a monotoring and inspection company, to Sao Tome and Principe for 5 years, having negotiated with governments the implementation of a physical monitoring system of oil exploration as a way to promote transparency in the sector.
As a founding member of the Platform of Participation and Citizenship in Sao Tome and Principe, he was activist in the campaign Publish What You Pay with active participation in developing the campaign strategy for Central Africa.
Graduated in International Relations in Universidade Moderna in Portugal, he has a post graduate degree in African Studies in the African Studies Center of the University of Oporto, where he developed a study on the economic transition from centralized system to a market economy in Sao Tome and Principe. Between 2004 and 2006 he taught Economic and Political Geography at the Polytechnic Institute of Sao Tome and Principe.
José Cardoso was born in Sao Tome on 16 October 1965, the city where he currently lives with his wife and son.
