Mr Jürg VOLLENWEIDER
Deputy Head, Macroeconomic Support Section, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Switzerland
Jürg Vollenweider is the Deputy Head of the Macroeconomic Support section at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs Switzerland (SECO).
He leads SECO’s macroeconomic programs in Central Asia, the Western Balkans, Ukraine, and Sub-Sahara Africa. As the team’s public financial management lead he is responsible for the section’s extractive sector portfolio, including the EITI and topical World Bank and IMF trust funds. He represents Switzerland to the EITI since 2016. From June 2019 to July 2020, he served as alternate board member to the EITI for Switzerland’s constituency.
Prior to joining the Macroeconomic Support Section, Jürg Vollenweider worked as a free trade agreement negotiator for SECO’s Special Foreign Economic Service division. He earned a M.A. in Empirical Political Science of the University of Zurich and a PhD in International Political Economy of ETH Zurich.
