The Government of Myanmar has stated its interest in joining the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in order to promote a more transparent and inclusive development of its natural resources. An inter-ministerial committee has been nominated by President U Thein Sein to oversee EITI implementation, with a mandate to 31 December, 2013.
