Understanding transparency requirements for junior explorers

EITI and Natural Resources Canada Off Room 715 Speakers at this session provided guidance for junior and exploration companies on Canada’s Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA), and aspects of the new 2023 EITI Standard that apply to exploration companies operating in the 57 countries that implement the EITI globally.

Extractive sector transparency requirements continue to evolve, with expanded requirements and increased emphasis on compliance and data accessibility. Natural Resources Canada and the EITI will co-host a session to provide guidance for junior and exploration companies on Canada’s Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA), and aspects of the new 2023 EITI Standard that apply to exploration companies operating in the 57 countries that implement the EITI globally. This session supported exploration and junior mining companies in understanding their reporting obligations, common reporting errors and opportunities to improve performance. Additionally, participants developed a better understanding of the data that is produced and where to find it.
